AfricaFiles is a network of volunteers committed to promoting human rights and economic justice in Africa and to relaying African perspectives and alternative analyses.  It clips from mostly African sources, and also commissions some original articles.

The African Centre for Technology Studies (ACTS) - a Nairobi-based international science, technology and environmental policy think-tank that generates and disseminates new knowledge through policy analysis, capacity building and outreach. Its 'Ecological Sources of conflicts' projects have resulted in several publications and conferences.

Aide et Action pour la Paix (AAP) - A Congolese NGO based in Goma. The link takes you to a French summary of the Congolese land law, which includes contact information for AAP.

The Brookings-Bern Project on Internal Displacement - monitors displacement problems worldwide, promotes the dissemination and application of the Guiding Principles on Internal Displacement, works with governments, regional bodies, international organizations and civil society to create more effective policies and institutional arrangements for IDPs, convenes international seminars on internal displacement, and publishes major studies, articles and reports.

Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) - an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit human rights organisation. COHRE is the leading international human rights organisation campaigning for the protection of housing rights and the prevention of forced evictions.

 

Centre d'Information et Mobilisation Sociale (CIMS) - a non-profit organization based in Kigali, Rwanda, with a focus on land issues as well as other socio-economic concerns. CIMS is locally-embedded and deeply involved in rural Rwandan issues.


Displacement Solutions - an NGO which develops practical housing, land and property (HLP) rights-based strategies designed to assist in resolving situations of displacement, and maintains the world’s only registry of housing, land and property rights experts with long-term experience working in post-conflict and post-disaster contexts.

Human Rights Watch - an independent, nongovernmental organization, supported by contributions from private individuals and foundations worldwide. HRW has recently started to investigate abuses related to land and property rights, particularly in Angola and Rwanda.

Global Land Tool Network - a network, facilitated by UN-Habitat, which contributes to the implementation of pro-poor land policies to achieve
secure land rights for all.

Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC), established in 1998 by the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), is the leading international body monitoring conflict-induced internal displacement worldwide. The Geneva-based IDMC runs an online database providing comprehensive information and analysis on internal displacement in some 50 countries. International Land Coalition - a global alliance of civil society and intergovernmental organizations working together to promote secure and equitable access to and control over land for poor women and men through advocacy, dialogue and capacity building.

Land Research Action Network - a network of researchers and social movements committed to the promotion and advancement of the fundamental rights of individuals and communities to land, and to equitable access to the resources necessary for life with human dignity.

Landrights.net -  an initiative supported by several NGOs, including Norwegian People's Aid, whch monitors the ongoing activities of the Commission for Legal Empowerment of the Poor (CLEP) and provides a number of relevant background documents.

Overseas Development Institute - an independent British think tank on international development and humanitarian issues. ODI's Humanitarian Policy Group (HPG) recently published a number of useful studies on post-conflict land challenges, and the role of humanitarian actors in addressing them.

Oxfam GB's land rights in Africa pages - a very useful collection of documents compiled by Robin Palmer, until recently Oxfam's Global Land Rights advisor.
